At Progress Peel, we offer a wide variety of training opportunities.
Participants will receive core training in all the areas listed below, and will also have the option to participate in additional activities, such as extended hiking expeditions and specialized programs.

Search & Rescue Training

Train using official search techniques taken from the Ontario Search & Rescue Volunteer Association manual. Participate in realistic scenarios to prepare for real-world rescue missions and community service.

First Aid Training

Become skilled in First Aid through training based on the St. John Ambulance reference guide curriculum. Advance your skills with realistic moulage training and opportunities to work towards becoming a certified First Aid Instructor after age 18.

Hiking Training

Build your endurance and outdoor skills through hiking expeditions along the Bruce Trail. Participants work toward completing full trail sections and earn badges for their achievements.

Survival Training

Learn vital wilderness survival skills, from building shelters and signaling for rescue to avoiding environmental hazards. Gain confidence and self-reliance in outdoor settings.

Campaign Training

Get involved in non-partisan civic engagement at the municipal level. Learn how local government works, participate in street activism, and work on campaigns to find progressive solutions to community challenges.

Moulage Training

Develop hands-on moulage skills, using special effects makeup and techniques to create realistic injury simulations that enhance First Aid and emergency training exercises.

Leadership Training

Grow into a leader through progressive leadership theory lessons and practical exercises. Participants will eventually manage their own projects and mentor others within the program.

Navigation Training

Learn how to navigate confidently in both urban and wilderness environments using maps, compasses, and GPS devices. Master essential skills through hands-on exercises and competitions.

Astronomy & Rocketry Training

Explore the night sky and study the basics of astronomy. Apply STEM skills by designing, building, and launching model rockets, including projects powered by G-class motors.

Safe Food Handling Training

Understand safe food preparation and storage practices through training aligned with Region of Peel certification standards. Participants can earn their Safe Food Handling Certificate.

Community Improvement

Take part in meaningful local projects like park cleanups and recycling campaigns. Earn volunteer hours while learning how to research and address community challenges.
