Hiking Training

Physical fitness and hiking are an integral part of Progress Peel. Physical fitness training is done during almost every training session and hiking is done during the Saturday training sessions. At least once per month, Progress Peel will participate in a long distance hike on the Bruce Trail. Our goal is to complete the entire Bruce Trail once every four years.

While many people view hiking as a physical fitness activity and it certainly is, hiking is also very much a mental fitness activity where, during the long distance hikes, Progress Peel students will learn to push themselves to achieve their goals. Success in finishing the long distance hikes leads to improved self confidence among Progress Peel students and a positive attitude about what they are able to accomplish.
