Question

My child has a disability, but would still like to participate in the youth leadership training program.  I understand that the youth leadership training program is designed to be a rigorous program, but I feel and my child feels that they will be able to handle it.  Can they join?

Answer

Progress Peel does not discriminate against any child for any reason.  So long as your child is committed to participating as best as they can, they are welcome to join.  Discrimination based on religion, ethnicity, gender identity, gender-orientation, ability, financial status, national origin, etc. is not accepted at Progress Peel.

Question

What are the attendance commitments for each of the three programs?

Answer

For the youth and adult volunteer programs, there is effectively no attendance requirement.  Training and community building events will be scheduled and people are welcome to engage them as they wish.  People registered for either of the volunteer programs will be contacted via email as to where and when training and community building events will be held.

For the youth leadership training program, attendance is strictly enforced.  The training is progressive and students missing training sessions can quickly fall behind.  Students will be expected to catch up on missed material on their own time.  Lessons will be available online through the Google classrooms.  If students miss too many training sessions, they will be removed from the youth leadership training program.
